Here are some pictures of my L-16A, taken over Geneseo, NY. Eric Dunigan should get a credit line for the photos, since he is a professional photographer. I restored N9325H over a period of 5 1/2 years from a pile of pieces. It was featured in Warbird Digest magazine in July 2006. It is powered by a L-16 has an 85hp, C-85-12, Continental engine. It won Best Laison Aircraft at Sun-n-Fun in 2005, Judges Choice and Preservation Award at Oshkosh in 2005 and 2007, Best Military Aeronca at the National Aeronca Convention in Middletown, OH in 2006, and Military Grand Champion at Horn Point in 2006.
I did not set out to build an award winner. I just did it for the fun and education of restoring an old war bird. I enjoy taking my L-16 to air shows to help keep history alive and honor the brave veterans who flew these slow, unarmed aircraft in harms way.
Special Note:
On February. 20, 1951, Army Captain John Olihovik, landed his L-16 in a creek bed behind enemy lines to rescue a Navy pilot from the wreckage of his Corsair fighter in North Korea. Captain Olihovik was awarded the Navy's highest honor for valor.
